No Time
The only way to watch this scene from the 1978 Superman is to switch your thinking about what’s happening. The Earth isn’t going back in time, Superman is. As he speeds around the Earth he eventually moves fast enough to defy physics and move back in time. The Earth itself doesn’t change rotation, that’s for our benefit to see Superman is travelling back in time.
Why isn’t there a second Superman then…? Ummmm…. this post is over.
